Payment Method Overview
You can create and save a new campaign without payment information, but in order to launch and start delivering, you must upload a valid payment method. GroundTruth supports credit card, debit card, and invoice as payment methods.
- Card: Monthly automatic card payments made with the card on file.
- Invoice: Monthly invoices generated and sent on Net 30 terms, which can be paid by ACH, wire transfer, or check.
All customers start with card billing. Select customers can switch to invoice billing. Please connect with a GroundTruth representative for more details.
About Card Billing
Card Billing: Understand Card Information
When providing your card information, ensure the card has suitable credit limits for your campaign budgets.
- GroundTruth accepts all major credit cards and does not store any of your card information.
- Credit cards are typically billed by the 1st of the following month. The main email contact on your account will receive a receipt.
- If there is an issue with the card on file and payment cannot be processed, an automated email will be sent from no-reply@groundtruth.com with the subject line Receipt for Tenant Name (GroundTruth Ads Manager Tenant ID: Tenant ID). This will go to the main email contact on your account to prompt you to update your card information in the Ads Manager platform. Read more in Manage Billing Details.
Card Billing: Accepted Card Types
Although we accept both debit and credit card, we recommend using credit cards as your payment method. Please see below for our policy for both card types.
| Credit Card Policy | Debit Card Policy | |
| Hold |
A $1.00 hold is applied when adding a credit card. If no spending occurs, the hold is automatically reversed within 7-10 business days. |
A $100.00 hold is applied when adding a debit card. If no spending occurs, the hold is automatically refunded within 7-10 business days. |
| Threshold |
$500 billing threshold. Connect with your GroundTruth representative to increase your threshold. |
|
| Schedule |
Billed on the 1st of each month. If your balance reaches the $500.00 payment threshold before the end of the month, you'll be billed immediately, followed by the remaining activity billed on the 1st of the following month. |

Card Billing: Account-Level Credit Cards Feature
By default, only one card can be on file at a time to pay for ad spend across all accounts under a single tenant (parent company). To enable the option to use multiple cards to pay for different accounts, please contact your GroundTruth representative or email us at self-servehelp@groundtruth.com.
Once enabled, you’ll see a “Connected Accounts” column in your Billing section. All your accounts will initially connect to your default card. As you add new payment methods, you’ll be able to easily select which specific account(s) should be billed to each card.
When switching a tenant from Tenant-Level billing to Account-Level billing, any outstanding balance currently due under the current Tenant-Level billing method will be processed and charged first. The system will then complete the transition to the new Account-Level billing structure.
About Invoice Billing
If your business meets our credit criteria, you may qualify to pay for your GroundTruth Ads Manager media spend using a monthly Invoiced Billing account instead of automatic credit card charges.
Invoice Billing: Qualifications & Application
To be considered for Invoice Billing, you must first be approved for credit.
- Request Switch to Invoice Billing: Contact your dedicated GroundTruth representative or email us at selfservehelp@groundtruth.com. We will review your tenant information and send you the contract agreement and the credit application.
- Submit Credit Application: You must complete and submit our formal credit application which requires three (3) media trade references, a bank reference, and additional information.
- Approval Timeline: Once your application is received, we will review it and determine whether credit can be extended. Campaigns cannot go live until your credit is officially approved. If a campaign is activated using a credit/debit card, you must wait until the end of the month before proceeding with invoice billing process.
Invoice Billing: Schedule & Payment Terms
With an invoiced tenant, GroundTruth sends a monthly bill for your media activity. You are then responsible for initiating payment.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Invoicing Schedule | Monthly invoice delivered by the 15th of the month for services delivered during the previous calendar month (e.g., October activity will be billed in November) |
| Payment Method | Pay by check or ACH bank transfer. Credit card payment is not an option for invoice accounts. |
| Payment Term | Payment is due within 30 days from the invoice date |
| Late Fees | All late payments will be subject to 1.5% late penalty fee |
| Delivery | Invoices are sent in PDF format via email to the address provided during account setup. If you wish to change the email recipient and/or add additional recipients, please reach out to your GroundTruth representative or email selfservehelp@groundtruth.com |
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are there advantages to using credit card vs debit card? The main benefit of using a credit card is that it provides a buffer for your bank account and better protection from fraud. A credit card lets you pay for ads now and settle the bill later, helping you keep cash available for other business needs. Plus, if a card number is stolen or there's a billing mistake, the credit card company takes the loss, not your checking account.
- Why is there a temporary hold placed on the card that I upload? A temporary hold is standard practice across most advertising platforms to ensure ad spend availability and for fraud prevention. The difference in refund times between credit and debit cards is due to varying bank processing times. Credit card authorizations ($1) are often "pending" and drop off more quickly, while debit card transactions involve actual fund transfers, which can take a few more business days to fully reverse. The $100 debit card hold acts as a pre-payment for your campaigns or is fully refunded within 5-7 business days if no spend occurs.
- Can I upload multiple cards? By default, only 1 card can be on file at a time. If you need to add multiple cards, please contact your GroundTruth representative or email selfservehelp@groundtruth.com. See Understand Billing Methods (Section: Account-Level Credit Cards) for more information.
- What do I do if my card is issued by a non-US/Canada (international) bank? By default, our system only allows transactions from US and Canadian-issued cards. To use an international card for payment, please contact your GroundTruth representative or email selfservehelp@groundtruth.com. Your card will require manual approval to allow transactions on our platform. If a non-US/Canada card is uploaded without manual approval, it will only be allowed on file within a 30-day exemption window, after which the system will reject the card.
- How does pricing work? GroundTruth charges based on CPM (cost per thousand impressions). There are minimum CPMs depending on the media type. See What bid price should be set? for full details.
